CHICAGO, Sept. 8 PRNewswire - A net 2 percent of chief information officers (CIOs) in the Chicago area expect to hire information technology (IT) professionals in the fourth quarter of 2005, according to the most recent Robert Half Technology IT Hiring Index andSkills Report.

Nine percent of executives surveyed plan to add staff during the quarter and 7 percent anticipate reductions inpersonnel. The net 2 percent increase is down six points from the third-quarter 2005 forecast. The majority of respondents, 81percent, foresee no change in hiring in the fourth quarter.The local results reflect a two-quarter rolling average based on the responses of 200 CIOs from a stratified random sample ofcompanies in the Chicago area with 100 or more employees; 1,400 executives were queried for thenational data.
